Veteran Affairs Home Loan Benefits Update
Starting August 10, 2024, there’s a significant change for veterans utilizing VA home loans. Veterans can now negotiate and pay for their real estate professional’s commission, helping them stay competitive in the housing market.
This change is subject to certain safeguards to protect veterans. It’s recommended to seek professionals experienced with the VA home loan program to ensure they understand the specifics of compensation negotiations. This is a great opportunity for veterans to leverage their benefits more effectively.

PTSD Screening and Awareness
June 27 marks National PTSD Screening Day, a day dedicated to spreading awareness about the importance of self-screening for PTSD. However, screening is available throughout the year.
If you or someone you care about may have PTSD, you can take an online PTSD self-screen at any time using the VA website’s screening tool. Early detection and treatment can greatly improve the quality of life for those affected. Remember, help is always available.

Advocates for Paralyzed Veterans’ Healthcare
A recent congressional hearing has brought to light the critical state of medical care for paralyzed veterans. Advocates warn that care is at a breaking point, with significant challenges in accessing necessary medical services at VA clinics and from private doctors.
This includes annual medical exams required to support disability benefits. Currently, there are about 42,000 veterans with spinal cord injuries and disorders, with 11% of them having served in Iraq and Afghanistan. Addressing these challenges is crucial to ensure these veterans receive the care they deserve.
