Veterans May Be Leaving 12 Months of GI Bill Benefits on the Table

Veterans with multiple qualifying periods of military service may be eligible for up to 48 months of education benefits—yet many are unknowingly leaving up to a full year of GI Bill benefits unclaimed.

The issue stems from the Rudisill v. McDonough decision, a Supreme Court ruling that clarified benefit eligibility for those who have served under both the Montgomery and Post-9/11 GI Bill programs. However, many veterans haven’t received updated Certificates of Eligibility (COEs) and remain unaware that they need to submit VA Form 22-1995 to trigger a review.

  1. Great article Chris!

We met on the USS Midway when Maurice Wilson was giving his Reboot Workshop and my fellow documentary producer Beth Dolan interviewed you for our Welcome Home documentary.

Well, that documentary has grown into a Youtube channel,

I would love to not only put this article in a post on our YT channel, but also interview you at some point to talk about Mil2Vet. Will not post the article without your permission.

With gratitude for your service then and now,
